Where Southern Indiana’s next founders get their start.
Program Overview
Generation Innovation is a year-long, cohort-based program that brings together high school students from across Southern Indiana to turn ideas into real, operational businesses. Meeting at Maker13 and Indiana University Southeast (IUS), students dive into business education, rapid prototyping and design, customer and market research, and pitch development—guided by industry experts and community leaders.
What You’ll Do:
Build: Learn core startup skills—problem framing, business models, budgeting, branding, and go-to-market.
Make: Use Maker13’s equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, wood/metal shops) to prototype and iterate.
Validate: Conduct customer interviews and market research to test assumptions and refine your solution.
Pitch: Prepare for and participate in Innovate WithIN, Indiana’s statewide high school pitch competition.
Launch: Leave with an actionable plan, a tested prototype, and a network of mentors and peers.
How It Works:
Cohort model with weekly workshops and milestone check-ins across the academic year
Dual campuses: hands-on build sessions at Maker13; seminars and pitch practice sessions at IUS
Mentorship from entrepreneurs, engineers, marketers, and community leaders
Team or solo: Apply individually or with classmates—no prior experience required
Who Should Apply:
